Soulmates

Soulmates

Who is that person you called soulmate,
An idea conjured through lonely dreams?
Existent in thoughts, someone you create;
To fill a necessary void, so it thus seem?
Has your lifetime spent in searching for
A love, in futile search, for nobody there:
Or something higher than you, no more –
so a hopeless heart searched everywhere
for beauty perfected to please your eyes,
one creation crafted so meticulously fair:
with soft lips so inviting, full of surprise
anticipating in the eyes, a smile to share.
Or searched for the brilliance of intellect,
With flowing ideas of any subject matter
Obtained – in advanced degrees selected:A doctor, an engineer, a genius or rather,
who is that person you called soulmate,
Someone like you, self portrait reflected?
Identified entirely the same, a one state
of mind, with nothing else be neglected…
Or chose someone: so entirely opposite,
Completely contrasted, one complement
To your differences, to provide you with
a strength provided through differences.
Who is the person you’d spent a lifetime,
In search of, in futile search of, for some-
thing beyond yourself. Until end of time
waiting, ‘til your soulmate finally comes.
