Searching
As night’s blanket covers twilight shades:
Replacing heated memoirs of this past day,
Overwhelming a purple sunset lost in gaze,
Gone, like a twinkle in time’s fleeting way.
So falling downward, from darkened haze
Trails of night’s sprinkles came, to did lay
reflected moondrops on those leafy blades.
And dangling petals covered by a bouquet
Of shadowed dust, silent thoughts to sway
Drifting visuals glided across night’s foray.
My eyes gazed beyond the glittering lights of this silent city, to where Night’s arms extended to infinity. I searched for that light, that elusive light, which had once shined upon my darkened nights. I searched for a meaning to all this madness and chaos, within the random flickering of artificial lamp-posts and barely lit neon signs. I searched for truth, for salvation, for that elusive light; so I searched for you, all within the condensed confines of cobblestone paths leading to blind alleyways. All led to nothing. Blinded, I was surrounded by darkness and emptiness. Wandering aimlessly through this darkness, I searched blindly for you.
As night’s encompassing arms extend away,
Leaving behind memories of departing days,
Further and further from reality, a path astray,
My feet wandered on artificial worlds raised
Upon on concrete post and cobblestone array,
Aimlessly drifting through, with bitter dismay.
Hollering, yelling out! With silence to convey
My searching thoughts, for that light this way.
Appearing at last, a truth, salvation displayed
Before my eyes: before you, your light it may.
